Online
submission of DAMS report

Online submission of DAMS (Drug Abuse Monitoring System) report
is mandatory for all NGOs working in the field of Drug Abuse Prevention
and receiving funds from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
All such NGOs may therefore ensure submission of reports on quarterly
basis, as already advised by Director NISD.
Non submission
of report will have bearing on release of next installment of
grant by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
E-learning module
for online training and guidance of NGOs for submission of DAMS report
is now available on NISD Website : www:nisd.gov.in
NGOs may log on to the section of the site and get familiarise/trained
in using the DAMS software application. NGOs may also seek online
clarification from respective RRTCs. They can email :msunilkr@nisd.gov.in,
tsampat@t-edge.com

RRTCs must ensure that NGOs of the respective region regularly
participate in DAMS activities. RRTCs must guide NGOs in case they
have any difficulty in online submission of DAMS report as well as
their understanding on e-learning of DAMS module.
All RRTCs must invariably sent a report with the photograph
of the activities of current month as well as details of the activities
for next couple of months to T-Edge Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune, electronically
for inclusion in the website and to NISD for printing in the newsletter.
Success stories/best practices from their respective region including
exemplary work being done by some of the NGOs falling in their regions
may also be transferred electronically/by post for appropriate use
on website/in newsletter.
One Month Basic course on Drug Abuse Prevention has been carried out
in New Delhi from 31st January, 2005 in collaboration with Society
for Promotion Youth and Masses (SPYM), Regional Resource and Training
Center (North Zone), New Delhi. The basic objective of this course
is to train the key functionaries working in Treatment-cum-Rehabilitation
Centers supported by the Ministry. More specifically, the course provide
information on various aspects of drug abuse and upgrading the basic
skills required in dealing with the alcoholics and drug addicts.
Two day orientation
courses are being held based on the Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
conducted out by RRTCs for the Ministry's aided NGOs running treatment
cum rehabilitation centers for functionaries/personnel working in
the field of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. Five such courses were organized
in collaboration with the RRTCs at Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nanded, Sholapur,
Trichy and Hyderabad.
NISD is organizing various National Level programmes targeted towards
expanding the reach of Govt. of India programme on Drug Abuse Prevention,
by sensitizing key officials of large networks under the Indian Red
Cross Society and NYK/NSS of the Ministry of Youth Affairs besides
providing orientation to middle level officials looking after prisons
and homes under the Juvenile Justice Act. These programmes will be
carried out in the month of February and March, 2005
