Director |

Shri
Satyendra Prakash, Director, NISD is from the Indian Information
Service, batch of 1988. He graduated in History from University
of Delhi in 1985 and received his M. Phil in Social Sciences from
Punjab University in 2004. He began his career as an Assistant Information
Officer in Press Information Bureau (PIB) in charge of press releases
and feature stories on social/development issues amongst other things.
In March 1992, Mr. Prakash joined the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting as an assistant Editor and Campaign Officer in Directorate
of Advertising and Visual Publicity.

From July 1995,
he acted as Officer - on - Special - Duty with the I&B Ministrys
and was engaged in administration of information / media policy,
associated with UNICEFS project on Child Rights
through advocacy. UNESCOS programme on Development and Communication,
Conference of the Information Ministers of Non - Aligned countries
and SAARC countries etc.
In Nov.
1999 he became the Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Social Justice
& Empowerment - in charge of Drug Prevention Policy and Programme,
Media Management and Administration and rose to become the Director,
NISD.
During his career with the Govt. of India, he has initiated and
successfully implemented numerous projects concerning AIDS/HIV and
Drug Abuse awareness and prevention.
Mr. Satyendra Prakash as a spokesperson on behalf of various Ministries
has attended conferences in India and abroad. He has presented white
papers on many occasions. Child Rights and Media An
Indian Perspective and Drug Abuse Prevention Programme
in the Regional Workshop of SAARC Countries, besides contributing
on a Drug Demand Reduction paper for a conference in Vienna.
Mr. Satyendra Prakash has been awarded with a gold medal for his
exhibition on Population Control and Reproductive Child Health,
in 1994. He was also given a RAPA Award for the year 1992 for a
radio Programme on Population Control and Reproductive and Child
Health.
