| Training & Capacity Building in Social Defence by NISD |
Training and Capacity Building Programmes for Drug Abuse Prevention:
- Three Month Certificate Course on Deaddiction Counseling & Rehabilitation - a comprehensive course to develop a cadre of skilled service providers covering all aspects of drug demand reduction.
- One-Month Basic Course on “Drug Abuse Prevention” to build the knowledge base of service providers by providing them with basic skills in Drug Abuse Prevention.
- Five Day courses on various thematic issues of Drug Abuse Prevention such as “Counselling – Issues & Process”, “Preventive Interventions for High Risk Groups”, “Rehabilitation and Relapse Prevention – Issues & Modalities” etc.
Strategic consultations and workshops such as
- Three-Day sensitization Workshop on Drug Abuse Prevention for CRPF is organized for sensitization of CRPF personnel of middle level functionaries.
- A Two day Training Programme on Drug Demand Reduction for officials of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was organized to enable organized to dovetail services of drug demand reduction in the supply control programme of NCB.
- Three day Consultative Meet of Zonal and Regional Directors of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) was organized to provide .inputs on issues of common concern and identify interventions for drug abuse prevention among youth.
- Five day National Meet on Drug Abuse Prevention in Prisons and Correctional Settings organized to provide inputs on various aspects relating to drug abuse with focus on identifying interventions for treatment and rehabilitation of dependents in prisons and correctional institutions wherein prison and correctional officials attended this programme from different States.

Regional Resource & Training Centres
Regional Resource and Training Centres (RRTC’s): The eight NGOs designated as RRTCs provide training to service providers of treatment and counseling centers for enhancing their capacity at the regional levels. These RRTCs are located at New Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Imphal, Kohima, Aizwal. These centers have also been regularly monitoring the programmes, assessing training needs of the service providers desirable and pragmatic in view of the size of the country and regional variations necessitating specific strategies. By way of training and capacity building has been able to promote convergence of advocacy, prevention and rehabilitation programmes of all relevant Government Departments as also Non-Governmental initiatives.
